Big Boy

We have been talking a lot about being a big boy lately and about being a big brother. We've been trying to encourage some big boy habits like using the potty and getting rid of the paci. Somehow Dylan decided on his own that his crib was "for baby" and he needed a "big brother bed". This was the one thing we weren't encouraging. The crib is such a wonderful piece of furniture that keeps small children safe and contained, why give it up so easily? But he has a mind of his own and he was ready to move on.
Friday night we picked out the bed and thought (naively) that we could put it together Saturday and test it out. We were wrong, we needed to put it together immediately.

He did 'help' put it together, using all his tools. When poor Lula came in to see what was going on he quickly told her "No Lula, working in here. Mommy, Daddy, Dylan working in here."

When it was finally assembled he gathered all his trucks, his tools, his books, and 'he-whore' (Eeyore) and settled in. He stayed in till he fell asleep which we never expected. He woke up once a little disoriented around 12:30, but went right back to sleep (with help from Daddy laying on the floor for a few minutes). He woke up about 9am and stayed in his room playing with his trucks.

Guess he was really ready for his big boy bed. Wonder if he will ever be ready to give up the paci...

On the mend

This is how we knew he was sick. He fell asleep sitting up and when we went to take a picture he woke up and I noticed that his shirt was soaked with drool. Poor guy had a high fever, but not flu - just took a few days to fight off. Friday he was finally 100% back to normal. He insisted on taking a picture with Lula -Lula wasn't as easy to convince.

Somehow I got her to sit next to him, but it wasn't easy.
Mr. Clown also thinks running around the house with his helmet on is super fun...wonder what he will think when he is supposed to wear it on his bike...

Play Trucks?

Trucks are involved in pretty much every aspect of our lives right now. They even ride on the carousel...
Dylan was very lucky at Christmas and now has a huge track to run 3 remote control vehicles on (2 trucks and a train). Note that he has all the remotes in his arms and is standing in the middle of the track...

New Feature

I finally discovered (with Matt's help) how to get the blog to email you each time I update. For some reason I can only have 10 addresses, so I had to edit a little. If you don't want to receive the emails just let me know (I'm not sensitive, don't worry). If you do want to receive them and aren't on the list also let me know so that I can update appropriately. Thanks!

Handsome

Just some glamour shots of some of Dylan's new fashion. It can be a challenge to find boys fashion - which makes it so much cuter!

test

just testing to see if email feature works

Puzzled

Bob told me he assembled a whole puzzle by himself today, but I had doubts. What grandparent doesn't exaggerate a little about how smart their grandchild is? Well he did it again and I took pictures to prove it to the rest of you. He starts in the middle and builds it by identifying which truck goes where. It didn't take too long either. I didn't help him at all, I just watched the process. It was kind of amazing.
